Mission accomplished: How PRISMA redefines In-Cabin Safety
Looking back at the trajectory of automotive innovation, 2025 marked a turning point. At the heart of this evolution was PRISMA, an ambitious R&D project that has now officially concluded, leaving behind a legacy of smarter, safer, and more intuitive driving technology.
The vision behind PRISMA
Launched in late 2024 under the "PERCEPCIÓN Y RESPUESTA INTELIGENTE PARA LA SEGURIDAD EN LA CONDUCCIÓN MEDIANTE MONITORIZACIÓN ADAPTATIVA (Intelligent Perception and Response for Driving Safety through Adaptive Monitoring) initiative , PRISMA was never just a theoretical exercise. It was a mission to create a virtual co-pilot, a system capable of truly understanding the driver and the environment to provide personalized assistance.
A powerhouse collaboration
The success of PRISMA was made possible by a high-impact consortium led by ROVIMATICA, featuring the combined expertise of Idneo, GMV, ANYVERSE, and PASSION MOTORBIKE FACTORY. This industrial force was supported by top-tier scientific insight from CSIC, UC3M, ITCL, IBV, and CVC-UAB.
IDNEO’s legacy: Precision and Security
As the project reaches its conclusion, we are proud to showcase the milestones Idneo contributed to this project:
- Next-Gen In-Cabin Monitoring: We successfully developed a subsystem using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radar and RGB-IR cameras. This hardware allows for the precise detection of driver fatigue, distraction, and vehicle occupancy, providing the foundational data for ROVIMATICA’s advanced algorithms.
- Validated cybersecurity: Connectivity is nothing without trust. We developed and validated a communication system via TCU (Telematic Control Unit) that ensures all data exchange is shielded by robust cybersecurity protocols.
- Innovation through synthetic data: In collaboration with ANYVERSE, we proved that high-fidelity synthetic data could effectively validate complex safety systems, significantly shortening development cycles without compromising reliability.
The most significant milestone of this stage has been the validation of the complete integrated system within the test vehicle. We are no longer talking about isolated components, we have achieved an intelligent ecosystem where all systems "talk" to one another to protect the driver.
Cutting-edge tech at the service of safety
In this critical phase, Idneo has contributed key elements to ensure the success of the overall system:
- Vital Sign Monitoring (VS): We have successfully installed our advanced UWB sensor, capable of monitoring the driver’s vital signs.
- Intelligent vision & DMS: The Vital Sign sensor works in tandem with the DMS (Driver Monitoring System) vision functions integrated by ROVIMÁTICA, allowing the vehicle to know, at all times, if the driver is in optimal condition to drive.
- Cloud connectivity: All data gathered by the virtual co-pilot is sent in real-time to the cloud through our VMAX TCU. This enables exhaustive data processing to continuously refine and improve the system's response.
As we move forward into 2026, the innovations born from PRISMA are already paving the way for the next generation of intelligent vehicles.
