RISCCOM: Advancing Secure Communications with RISC-V and UWB Technology in the Automotive Industry
At Idneo, technological innovation is at the core of our mission, and the RISCCOM project exemplifies our commitment to the future of automotive connectivity. RISCCOM is an initiative dedicated to developing advanced wireless communication systems based on RISC-V technology. The objective is to further evolve the vehicle's open platform without requiring physical interaction between the driver, the key fob, or the car.
A key aspect of RISCCOM is the use of Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, which is prepared to change several in-cabin monitoring (iCM) applications, including Life and Child Presence Detection. UWB’s innovative capabilities extend beyond these use cases, and Idneo is actively exploring its potential for Seat Occupancy Detection, adding another layer of safety and precision to vehicle monitoring systems.
Within the project, Idneo is contributing to the development of hardware, RF antennas, and specialized anchors to integrate in the vehicle to cover Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) and iCM applications all-in one. Moreover, the integration of UWB technology in automotive environments marks a significant advancement, as it enhances PKE by allowing the use of internal anchors to monitor the vehicle’s cabin occupants, offering both security and improved user experience.
RISCCOM is set to deliver significant value to the automotive industry, combining the latest in RISC-V and UWB technologies to create safer, smarter and more connected vehicles for the future.
