H₂ Fuel Cell Control Unit: Innovation in Fuel Cell Control for Sustainable Transport
The transport sector accounts for nearly 16% of global CO₂ emissions, making it a priority in the race towards decarbonisation. In this context, Idneo is driving the development of a key technology: an innovative Fuel Cell Control Unit (FCCU) for vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Why hydrogen?
Compared to battery-based electric alternatives, hydrogen vehicles offer greater range, rapid refuelling, zero emissions, and better performance in extreme environments. Furthermore, they are ideal for medium and long-distance applications, especially in trucks, buses, or sectors such as maritime or aeronautics.
The project
The development is part of the incentive program for the innovative value chain and knowledge of renewable hydrogen, managed by IDAE (Ministry for the Ecological Transition) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by European Next Generation EU funds.
Key Features
- Modular and robust platform, adaptable to different sectors.
- Safe operation between -40°C and 90°C, and with voltages from 12V to 24V.
- Advanced algorithms for intelligent energy management.
- Reduction in weight, volume, and implementation cost.
- ASIL D platform compliant with ISO 26262.
This development reinforces the commitment to sustainability, the advancement towards clean mobility, and the creation of future-oriented technological solutions.
